Novel Writing Software
Writing Software that Practically Writes Your Novel For You!
After many years of writing frustration, I figured out the real secret to writing: creating a solid, compelling plot – or what many authors call “plotting.”
After writing and publishing my own books, I refined the process of plotting and wrote an international best-selling book called The Marshall Plan® for Novel Writing that thousands of writers have used to successfully create their own novels.
But many of my readers wanted something more — something that would streamline the process of novel writing, while remaining true to the principles of plotting outlined in my book. I teamed up with editorial consultant and fellow literary agent Martha Jewett to create The Marshall Plan® Novel Writing Software.

I bought the software with some reservation since I am a hands on writer who prefers to work with hard copies of everything. But when I started using the software to outline a novel that was going nowhere, and had subplots all over the place, evertyhing cam together. It took me some time to work through all the sections but it made writing the first draft so much smoother to do. For anyone who wants to plot a tight novel, where all the scenes drift into place like a baby into her mother’s arms, try this software. It made me a better and happier writer.
I’m really surprised at how much The Marshall Plan has helped me. I am no longer intimidated by the task of structuring a novel. I’ve read dozens of writing books and magazine articles, and have taken courses as well. Unfortunately, none have come close to revealing the true process. The Marshall Plan is different. It teaches you how to create a custom blueprint for your novel by guiding you through word counts, plot points and the handling of multiple viewpoints. The process is nowhere near as complicated as many would have you think. It simply takes a tool like The Marshall Plan to walk you through it. Thanks, Martha and Evan! The secret has finally been revealed and it’s given me the confidence to start writing again.
Unfortunately I could not use the software as I have a Mac, but I used the book “The Marshall Plan for Novel Writing” to finish my novel!
For a few years I had been struggling with my story, at some point I just got stuck and left it be, thinking I sucked as a writer.
It was only after reading “The Marshall Plan for Novel Writing” (http://www.amazon.com/Marshall-Plan-Novel-Writing/dp/1582970629) that I felt newly motivated to finish it. And it worked, even though I already had half of a story and I kind of fixed things and worked things out with help of the book.
I’m now writing my second novel and again I’m using the Marshall Plan, this time completely from the start. It’s amazing how it works! And how fast! I used to hate the plotting part and the character development. But with help from the section sheets and the character fact lists, it’s very easy and actually fun to do!
So, thanks you very much for creating The Marshall Plan. It’s awesome!
Thank YOU for the great comment, Iona. We have a Mac version of the software in the works, so stay tuned…
All the best,
Evan Marshall

I haven’t purchased the software yet, but I’ve been using the book and workbook for years already. I have over 2 dozen novels in print since I began using The Marshall Plan for Novel Writing Book and Workbook – if the software can improve on it –if it’s anything like the book and workbook – you can’t lose. When you finish you practically have your synopsis worked up for you – I love this and I use it every time I begin a new novel. I brag to everyone about this book – every chance I get.
Thanks Mr. Marshall

When it comes time to putting everything down on paper, nothing is better than The Marshall Plan. The software is intuitive, non-threatening, and easy to use. And the blueprint Evan Marshall has developed for creating your story (and it’s characters) is both logical and practical. Combine all this with Evan’s down-to-earth tips and common sense recommendations — your best seller practically writes itself. (Well, almost.) It doen’t try to think for you. It still lets you do the dreaming. But when it comes time to putting those dreams on paper, nothing beats the Marshall Plan.
This is the simply the best book, workbook, and software ever created to help new and upcoming writers achieve their goals. In addition to all of this, Mr. Evan Marshall gives tips and common sense recommendations that will guide you in creating a best-seller. I for one am a teacher in Florida and use his material in my creative-writing class. Most of all, my students love his book on writing.
I recently stumbled upon a minor roadblock while doing research for my novel. I e-mailed Mr. Evan Marshall and was really pleased with how quickly and effectively he answered me – (my librarian didn’t even know where to begin!). Time is such a rare commodity for most of us and I am VERY grateful that a true professional like Mr. Marshall would make time for the unpublished. I think it’s obvious that Mr. Marshall wants his students to succeed. Thank-you again Mr. Marshall for your insight , and for reaffirming that I am indeed in the right place for instruction!
I have the book and workbook and have found them very useful. I would be interested in the software, as well, but I, too, am a Mac person. Any idea when the Mac version will be available? Thanks!
Your books are the best! Please let me know when a Mac version of the software is available.
Thank you,
Eli
I have read/purchased dozens of books on writing but none can compare to the practical advise Evan Marshall gives in his book The Marshall Plan. I spent hours creating the action and reaction sheets in Word and have used them for years. When I found he had created software I eagerly purchased it. This has been a huge time saver for me. I am working on a fantasy novel and Mr. Marshall’s software is just what I need to keep my plotting process focused. The advise he gives each step of the way is invaluable. Thank you Mr. Marshall, for explaining the writing process in terms that are so easy to understand and for making the writing process so enjoyable through the use of your software.
Hi,
I subscribed to the software after using the book. I am disabled with limited hand usability. This program is SO easy to use. The template has increased my productivity enormously.
I just got a new more powerful laptop and my registration isn’t working.
Must I re-subscribe to make it work?
Thanks
When is your Mac compatible version coming out?
Evan,
Thanks for solving the problems I inquired about.
As a disabled person who works for every keystroke, your system is a miracle of auto-formatting.
I’m a big fan.
Alfred
Any release date for the Mac version?

I must say, waiting for the Mac version of the software is more than difficult. Now I read the goal is for LATE summer… ouch… it’ll be a wonderful day indeed when it’s available but the waiting is killing me. I can only hope that it might be released sooner. Here’s to keeping my fingers crossed.
Thank you Evan for the Marshall Plan to writing a Novel. I have enjoyed the system so much that I am going to use you system to complete my Novel outline with your software. I find that your system is especially valuable to writers that are not writing full time and have a 9-5 job and young children to look after. Time is a very scarce commodity and your system helps a writer focus on the novel.
I do my writing on my PC at home and on my commute & lunch break at work and I have a question regarding the software licence:
If I purchase the Marshall Novel writing software, will I be allowed to install it on my PC and Laptop? Or would I need to purchase two licences.
I’m delighted our system is working so well for you. You are free to use the software on two computers.
Wishing you success in your writing.
All the best,
Evan Marshall
Evan,
I’ve long been a fan … but am another Mac user anxiously awaiting release! Please do keep us posted.
Thank you!
Tom
I am also anxiously awaiting the Mac version of the Marshall Plan software. Please email me when it is ready. Thanks!
I’m working on my first novel and in preparation for actually getting it down on paper, I’ve read several novel writing books and tried a couple different novel writing software tools. The Marshall Plan software and book are getting me farther in the process than anything I’ve tried. The software allows me to easily capture, change and identify the full range of elements that I need to weave the story, put the action, reaction and characters in proper relationship to each other without hindering the forward momentum. The software interface is perfect for use with my 30″ monitor. I’m on track now to quite possibly complete the first draft in thirty days (fingers crossed), Thanks Evan.
Any update on the Mac version release date? Thanks.
Hi Tom,
We are still working with our developer on the Mac version, but it is coming along extremely well and we think you’ll be pleased. To answer your question, we’re hoping for a November release.
Best,
Evan
